Since its inception in 2010, The Magnolia Council has raised well over one million dollars. This energetic and committed group of women has organized successful social, cultural and fundraising events including a sold out annual Spirit of Hope Luncheon. With the funds raised through these events, The Magnolia Council awards an annual $100,000 research grant to a young physician scientist in Southern California. In addition, The Council has also helps fund Tower’s LA CanSurvive patient support programs.

For nearly nine years The Magnolia Council has hosted the annual Spirit of Hope Luncheon & Boutique, rallying over 600 influential women to raise money for cancer research. The highlight of the fall social season, the Luncheon is filled with friendship, fashion, and fun as attendees shop for a cause at the holiday boutique. Each year the The Magnolias honor esteemed members of the community. Past recipients have included Dr. Philomena McAndrew, Dr. Jerrold Steiner, and Dr. Kendrick Slate.
Members of The Magnolia Council have the opportunity to attend quarterly educational speaker series on various topics surrounding cancer prevention, detection and treatment. The Magnolia Lunch and Speaker Series gives members an opportunity to engage in a question and answer format with experts in the field of oncology and hematology as well as network with likeminded individuals. Previous presenters have included Dr. Solomon Hamburg, an oncologist from Tower Hematology Oncology Medical Group, and Dr. Judith Reichman, an attending physician in gynecology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
