The Ronnie Lippin Cancer Outreach Program at Tower Cancer Research Foundation was established to provide the public with more information about cancer and how to deal with significant issues relating to the disease.

The program was established in memory of Ronnie Lippin, a prominent, well-respected publicist and manager in the music industry and president of The Lippin Group, an international media and public relations firm. Ronnie passed away in December 2006 from a rare form of breast cancer.

The Ronnie Lippin Cancer Surveys

These national surveys are conducted to explore public attitudes towards cancer and cancer care in the United States.

Conducted in 2007, “Cancer and the Public” utilized The Dohring Company’s online survey panel of 2 million individuals from which 4, 402 surveys were completed in a 15 day period. One of the interesting findings of this survey was that 79% of respondents said they feared cancer more than any other disease.

Conducted in 2008, "Delayed Cancer Diagnosis: Why?” surveyed a total of 500 respondents, all of whom had been diagnosed with cancer. Some of the interesting findings this survey revealed was that more than 50% of respondents had symptoms for two months or longer before seeking medical care; over 80% of those delaying medical evaluation did so out of fear or procrastination; once a doctor became involved, a cancer diagnosis was established quickly, in those cases.

The Ronnie Lippin Cancer Research Grant

Two $50,000 grants have been awarded in 2007 and 2008.The following research projects have been funded by the Ronnie Lippin Cancer Research Grant:
