Ronnie Lippin Cancer Outreach Program
Surveys

The Ronnie Lippin Cancer Surveys are national surveys conducted to explore public attitudes towards cancer and cancer care in the United States. Two innovative national surveys have been conducted to date in conjunction with The Dohring Company, a prominent market research company. Following analysis of the data, the survey results are released to the public through media outlets and the internet.

Conducted in 2007, “Cancer and the Public” utilized The Dohring Company’s online survey panel of 2 million individuals from which 4, 402 surveys were completed in a 15 day period. One of the interesting findings of this survey was that 79% of respondents said they feared cancer more than any other disease.

Conducted in 2008, “Delayed Cancer Diagnosis: Why?” surveyed a total of 500 respondents, all of whom had been diagnosed with cancer. Some of the interesting findings this survey revealed was that more than 50% of respondents had symptoms for two months or longer before seeking medical care; over 80% of those delaying medical evaluation did so out of fear or procrastination; once a doctor became involved, a cancer diagnosis was established quickly, in those cases.
