Abby Levy
Chairman
 

Abby was born and raised on the East coast, earning her BA in English from the University of Maryland. She taught high school English and Journalism in New Jersey for several years. In 1968, Abby married Alan D. Levy and together they have two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Jackie, and Jackie's wonderful husband, Phil Kubel, has now joined the family.

In 1969, Abby and Alan moved to Los Angeles where Abby continued her community involvement first by becoming active in Westlake School's Parent Committee, chairing the Marshall center Opening Campaign and then expanding her involvement to the arts and the healthcare community.

Abby has served as president of the American Art Council and has been a member of its Steering Committee at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from 1985 to the present . She has chaired Art of the Palate, a major LACMA fund raiser, and served as a LACMA Trustee for many years. Abby also co-chaired the 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner 2004, NYC, Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution. Abby's hobbies include the daily NY Times crossword puzzle, needlepoint, painting china, arranging flowers, and collecting antiques. Together the Levys collect American art.

Abby has been a member of the board of Women's Guild, Cedars Sinai Medical Center for 20 years and served as its president from 1998-2002. She has also volunteered at The Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center, A Project of Womens Guild, a facility that was dedicated during her presidency.

Abby's primary focus is the field of women's health and enabling women to be proactive with their health issues through education, accessible information and specialized care. More specifically, as a two time survivor of Breast Cancer, it is her desire to help breast cancer patients conquer their fears, achieve a positive attitude, and get through their chemotherapy and radiation treatments with the least anxiety possible.

Abby was the first recipient of Tower Cancer Research Foundation's Humanitarian Award in 2004, afterwhich she and her husband, Alan, joined the Board of Directors at TCRF.
